House With No Bills

Guy Martin did a great job this week raising awareness of retro-fitting insulation in a 1930s semi.  Well worth watching.

The only real downside was that the works were largely architect-designed to Passivhaus premium standards. Which meant the expense was unrealistic for many homes in Britain.

OK there were some cheap improvements (such as draughtproofing a door using a soft toy!). But for most of us the cost of works is key.

It’s probably a bit pernickety to point out that the house would still have to pay water bills….unless they dug a borehole (+ a septic tank for waste).
